Land seismic acquisition in areas difficult to reach by vehicles, implies the use of helicopters to support operations, such as, surveying, drilling and recording. Optimizing helicopter flight time is significant when facing budget constraints and for obtaining good results. The purpose of this paper is to present the results of a recent case-study where both conventional and heli-portable rigs were used and introduce a method to optimize helicopter flight time for drilling operations.
